Well October is done and gone, spooky season is over for another year. Things haven’t really slowed down at the pub yet, we’ve had lots of things going on.

Firstly, Christmas bookings. Christmas day is obviously fully booked, but we’re still taking bookings for festive meals during the December run up to Christmas. If you’ve booked for Christmas day, or a festive meal, and haven’t already, please pop in and pick up a pre order form and also pay your deposit.

We now have a date and time for our insanely popular Tea with Santa, being Saturday 22nd December, with sittings at 14:00 and 16:00. We have not announced this anywhere else yet, so this is a bit of an exclusive for anybody that reads these blogs, feel free to take advantage and give us a call to book your table before the advertising goes out 🙂

We held a Halloween party in October, which was mainly aimed at children and families. A mad science show was put on by Nottingham University, who were absolutely fantastic, so a big thank you to them. Hopefully all of the children enjoyed it, especially making ice cream with liquid nitrogen!!! There were some fantastic costumes worn, and it was an impossible task judging the fancy dress contest. We just wanted to say everyone was a winner, but couldn’t 🙁

We had a village coming of age in October. Bobby Parkes celebrated his 18th Birthday party at the pub, so a massive happy birthday to him.

We always breath a sigh of relief when the pub is still standing after a celebration such as an 18th. Personally the thought of hosting them terrifies me to be honest. But I must say a big thank you to everyone who attended, as it was a great atmosphere with absolutely no problems at all.

Drawing to a close I want to mention Sunday Carverys. We now STRONGLY advise booking for a Sunday. We are often fully booked for Sundays now, and unfortunately we are consistently having to turn people away. We do accept walk in customers, if we have the space and enough spare food prepared (remember everything is home made.) However more often than not now, this is not possible. So please, please, just book. Even if you call just before you travel to the pub on the day, make that call, so that you’re not disappointed when you get here.

The same may apply on some other days in December. There will be times when we have upwards of 30 people booked in at one time for 3 course meals. This will obviously mean increased wait times for customers who walk in to order main menu meals. Please just call ahead throughout December, and we can suggest a time that won’t clash with a large booking. It takes 2 minutes to call us, and could save you a lot of waiting and disappointment.

Finally we want to say a big thank you once again for all of your support. We expected October and November to be very quiet months, and that hasn’t really materialised yet. So a big thank you for continuing to support us through these colder, darker months.
